Construction of the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo Expressway, which will be the first intelligent expressway in Zhejiang province, is expected to begin in late June.

The design of the section linking Hangzhou to Shaoxing was recently approved by local authorities.

The soon-to-be-built Nanyang Tunnel and Cao'ejiang Bridge are important parts of the project.

The Nanyang Tunnel will be located north of the Xiaoshan International Airport in Hangzhou and intersects with Metro Line 1.

The Cao'ejiang Bridge will be located 6 kilometers off the estuary of Cao'ejiang River. The main span of the bridge will be 188 meters.

Industry insiders said the expressway will play a significant role in improving the province's expressway network, boosting economic development along the expressway and contributing to the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
