Liu Rui, deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) from Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, proposed carrying out trials for technology and finance integration in Jiaxing during the national Two Sessions this year.
Since 2012, China's central government has paid particular attention to the integrated development of technology and finance, said Liu, who is also the executive deputy director of the Department of Environment affiliated with the Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, during a telephone interview with Jiaxing Daily.
In recent years, Jiaxing has ramped up efforts to promote the integrated development of technology and finance, she added.
The city has issued loans to a total of 3,719 local technology companies to date, according to Liu.
At present, Jiaxing has 74.9 billion yuan ($10.5 billion) worth of outstanding loans for technology and finance related tasks, a year-on-year increase of more than 20 percent and roughly 10 percentage points higher than the annual increase in other types of loans.
Liu noted that although technology companies already enjoy efficient financial services in Jiaxing, there are still a lot of improvements that could be made, particularly when it comes to the integrated development of technology and finance.
She suggested the establishment of a municipal-level pilot zone to carry out technology and financial reforms in Jiaxing, which could serve as a model for other areas in China.
