The delegation from Zhejiang province to the third session of the 13th National People's Congress and the third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference focused on how to stabilize the market, promote economic reforms and cope with the changing situation in order to open the economy wider to the outside world.

Wang Jian, member of the CPPCC National Committee and deputy director of the provincial commerce department, said stable foreign trade and foreign investment is of key importance to Zhejiang's economy.

According to Wang, Zhejiang has launched a series of measures to stabilize foreign trade since the outbreak of COVID-19, such as reducing taxes and fees, holding online trade fairs and building trade centers.

Zheng Jianjiang, an NPC deputy and president of AUX, a famous home electrical appliance company based in Ningbo, stressed the importance of adjusting the international trade model, and said that service trade and cross-border e-commerce will become new growth drivers in the future.

Zhang Bo, another CPPCC National Committee member and vice-president of WZ Group based in Hangzhou, said that better use should be made of major platforms to attract more foreign investment.

"For example, the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone is becoming a hub for Zhejiang's opening-up," said Zhang. "We should ease regulations on spot transactions of bulk commodities to promote the liberalization of bulk commodities trade."

Zhang Bing, an NPC deputy and Party chief of Jiaxing, said Jiaxing will improve its local business climate by building several high-end industrial parks.

Li Shufu, an NPC deputy and president of Geely Auto, called on auto companies to speed up R&D and improve business layout to cope with the changing global economic situation.

"The COVID-19 epidemic has had a large impact on the global supply chain and industrial chain. We should strengthen regional cooperation to offset those impacts," said NPC deputy Zhang Tianren, president of the Tianneng Group, a power battery manufacturer in Huzhou.
