Industrial development key to rural vitalization, says NPC deputy
Fang Zhonghua, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress from Taizhou, Zhejiang province and Party chief of Fanglin village in Taizhou's Luqiao district, stressed the importance of industrial development in bringing about rural vitalization in his proposal to the nation's top legislative body.
In recent years, the nation's rural areas have made strides in improving the environment and developing industry, according to the national legislator. Fang revealed that Taizhou is now home to 196 municipal-level beautiful villages with a collective economic income of 173 million yuan ($25 million).
Nevertheless, problems such as a lack of overall planning and policy support as well as homogenization still exist in Taizhou and China on the whole.
In a bid to tackle the problems, Fang called on efforts to strengthen industrial development amid the nation's drive to promote the construction of beautiful villages.
More support should be offered in terms of policy, credit and agricultural insurance for rural economic development, he said.
Meanwhile, local authorities were suggested strengthening guidance and making overall plans based on in-depth analysis of each village's strengths and weaknesses.
Fang also called for more efforts to strengthen rural talent cultivation, saying they are key to the realization of the rural vitalization strategy.
