Delegates from China's eastern coastal province of Zhejiang gathered in its capital Hangzhou on May 19 to make preparations for the two sessions, which started in Beijing on May 21, according to local officials.
They said that in light of the special situation brought about by the novel coronavirus crisis, many delegates will present their proposals regarding epidemic control as well as economic and social growth.
Ge Minghua, a deputy to the National People's Congress and dean of Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, said that he will make a proposal on improving the public health emergency response system.
During the novel coronavirus outbreak, Ge led 172 medics to Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province to support the local fight against the epidemic.
He said he will also give special attention to reforming health insurance payments and improving the emergency treatment system for sudden cardiac deaths.
Wang Binmei, a deputy to the National People's Congress and head of the Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe, said that she will propose developing a digital economic mode for traditional Chinese opera.
"During the outbreak, the film, television and theater industry was hit hard," she said. "It will help revive the theater industry through tapping into digital technology.”
Chen Naike, vice-chairman of the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and also a deputy to the National People's Congress, said that what he cared about most was the recovery of production following the epidemic.
According to Chen, this year he will suggest building a big data platform to propel economic growth.
