Zhoushan, an island city in Zhejiang province, hopes to build itself into a global ocean hub.

The province recently released a plan to build a strong marine economy this year, which included building Ningbo and Zhoushan into global ocean hubs, building the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port into the world's top port, building demonstration zones for the marine economy, and promoting the development of the Zhoushan Archipelago New Area.

Zhoushan authorities said the city will focus on projects, infrastructure, and more to build itself into a global ocean hub.

Specifically, the city will build an environmentally-friendly petrochemical base and a number of liquefied natural gas import terminals, container terminals, highways, and railways.

It will also double down on efforts to build 10 island parks and help Zhejiang Ocean University develop some world-class disciplines.
