Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has made remarkable achievements over the past seven decades since the founding of the People's Republic of China. 

The county has undertaken many national key projects, including the construction of a green petrochemical base, an oil transportation and trade base, and an iron ore transshipment base. The county's infrastructure has been greatly improved thanks to the construction of the Yushan, Xiushan, and Zhoushan-Daishan Bridges. A tidal power generator project was also launched. The county ranked 18th on the list of the 2018 Top 100 Chinese Counties for Investment published by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
