Two of the world's top tidal energy companies reach cooperation in Zhoushan
Verdant Power, a world leader in developing marine and hydrokinetic (MHK) technologies and projects, and the Hangzhou-based company LHD, China's earliest enterprise dedicated in ocean tidal energy technologies, signed an agreement on tidal energy technology cooperation in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province on Nov 5.
A delegation of Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in America (ZCCA) visited Zhoushan that day, inviting Trey Taylor, co-founder of Verdant, and John T Banigan, CEO of LHD to attend a symposium on communication and cooperation.
"We and LHD focus on different tidal energy technologies and our cooperation will help us make the world's top tidal-energy power generating equipment with the largest generating capability," John T Banigan said.
Based on the agreement, the two sides will explore the tidal energy market of both China and US.
"Tidal energy is a type of renewable energy resource, which may influence the global pattern of energy. Researching and developing tidal energy is also one of the efforts echoing China's Belt and Road Initiative," added John.
The ZCCA delegation, comprising of sci-tech and business personnel, visited Zhoushan's Ocean Science City and Archipelago New Area Marine Industry Cluster Area to inspect the city's investment environment, hoping to bring in high-tech innovation projects from US to Zhoushan and boost global cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
