It received 2.94 million tourists in the first three quarters of this year, with income totaling 210 million yuan ($31.71 million), representing a year-on-year growth of 23.8 percent and 24.1 percent, respectively.

The achievement came from the great efforts the local government has made, including financial support, professional training, green channels and promotional conferences.

"We have made full use of natural and cultural resources to promote the development of the B&B industry and made it a driving force of the local economy," said Zhu.

The government also established a development fund of 500 million yuan and attracted five new B&B projects with a total investment of 365 million yuan at this year's forum.

Besides, a group of designers have also contributed to make the area a leader in the B&B industry nationwide.

They effectively combined local folk culture with modern characteristics, creating buildings that cater both to local residents and visitors from big cities.

During this year's forum, more than 400 B&B designers from home and abroad gathered in Tonglu and shared their views on B&B design and management.
