The 2017 China-CEEC Mayors' Forum, with themes of intelligent transportation and green travel, was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang province on June 8.
Co-organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Ningbo municipal government, the forum invited more than 260 guests from China and CEE (Central and Eastern European) countries, including the mayors of the Chinese cities of Changchun in Jilin province, Zhengzhou in Henan province and Sanming in Fujian, as well as leaders from CEE cities. Foreign diplomats, scholars of transportation and representatives from local companies also attended.
Qiu Dongyao, mayor of Ningbo, addressed the event, saying Ningbo will promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, especially CEE countries.
Qiu proposed that China and CEE countries should target mutual benefits and strengthen their relationships through both non-governmental exchanges and official cooperation.
Three parallel sessions were held after the plenary for discussion of transformation and upgrading of the logistics industry, application of new energy vehicles and prospects for vehicle sharing.
The mayors' forum marked the beginning of the 3rd China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo, which also offered the China-CEEC Trading (Cross-border E-commerce) Matchmaking Meeting, the China-CEEC Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Dialogue, the China-CEEC Customs Development Forum, the China-CEEC Overseas Chinese Businessmen Ningbo Summit and the China (Ningbo)-CEEC Tourism Cooperation and Exchange Meeting.
