Zhejiang sets goals for international cooperation in production capacity
Zhejiang is going to promote an overall plan to cooperate over the next three years with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative in production capacity, especially in the fields of infrastructure construction and trade and investment, according to the provincial commerce department.
A new document released recently set several goals for cooperation in production capacity cooperation in the next three years.
Regional cooperation mechanisms will be established in a bid to strengthen ties between Zhejiang and other regions taking part in the Belt and Road Initiative. The mechanism will facilitate the settlement of overseas offices in places with a good cooperation basis with Zhejiang. Normalized operation of China-Europe freight trains is included in the mechanism.
Through these actions, the Zhejiang government expects to accelerate trade and investment cooperation with the hope that by 2019, imports from and exports to countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative can reach a value of $124 billion.
The document also says in industries like textiles, electricity, iron and steel, medicine and automobiles, Zhejiang will increase cooperation, encouraging companies to invest in and contract overseas projects in different ways, including building factories overseas and expanding marketing networks.
It is anticipated that in each of the next three years there will be 500 new marketing agencies in other countries. Good-quality projects concerning infrastructure and equipment manufacturing are expected to be launched in countries and regions participating in the initiative.
Zhejiang is targeting the whole world. In Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America, the province aims to promote processing and assembling businesses, jointly exploit energy resources with local companies and develop an integrated mode combining construction and operation.
For Western Europe, North America, Japan and Korea, Zhejiang's plan is to boost mutual investments, promote scientific innovation and explore potential markets.
When putting the plan into action, the province will give full play to its advantages such as port resources and the information economy, including cross-border e-commerce platforms, the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port and Zhejiang businesspeople all around the world.
