Lishui's art treasures on show in Italy
Three kinds of treasures from Zhejiang's Lishui city -- Longquan Celadon, Longquan Sword and Qingtian stone sculpture -- stunned viewers at the first Chinese Art Festival in Italy from May 5 to 7.
The display of Longquan Celadon, a famous type of celadon-glazed porcelain made in Longquan and neighboring counties in Lishui city, received praise from local citizens and overseas Chinese living in Milan. They showed great interest in taking photos of all the artworks, and especially perhaps the celadon pieces.
Lishui also brought to Italy its time-honored rice wine, shaobing (a type of traditional flatbread) and its special sauce combining soybeans and vinegar.
Assorted folk songs and dances, Chinese paintings and calligraphy, and other cultural activities from around China drew large crowds at the festival. Chess games and table tennis contests between Chinese and Italian people were organized as well.
The Chinese Art Festival is expected to promote Chinese culture to Italy and provide chances for Italian people to savor the charm of the traditional handicraft arts of China. Strongly supported by China's Consulate-General in Milano, the festival will be held every year from 2017.
