Xixia Town's Horse-Shaped Lantern Show, an intangible cultural heritage of Zhejiang province, always enlivens Yongjia county's Xixia town during the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
The lantern show is performed by local children wearing horse-shaped lanterns to ride and run on "horseback". Often accompanied by Chinese folk instruments, the culturally characteristic performance is both lively and humorous, with performers going from door to door offering prayers of prosperity.
