Located in the heartland of the Yangtze River Delta, the city of Tongxiang covers a total area of 723 square kilometers and has a population of one million.

Tongxiang has been a land of plenty and the home of silk since ancient times, typified by its advantageous location, convenient transportation, beautiful environment, and outstanding economic strength.

The comprehensive economic strength of Tongxiang ranked 19th among the 2,000 counties and county-level cities in China in 2015, and is in the top 10 of Zhejiang province's 80 counties. Tongxiang is also home to the 1,300-year-old and world-renowned water town of Wuzhen.
